Mechanical and electrical design for the new $7M, 20,000sf library for the City of Sacramento. Program spaces include reading rooms, a children's reading and story time room, technology center, study rooms, support offices, a community meeting room, and a cafe.
The architectural design provides cost savings and multi-functional use through its sloped roof that harvests daylight, allowing it to penetrate deeply into the building's spaces. Skylights incorporated in the design provides additional diffused overhead daylight to reading spaces. The sloped roof is also pitched, which in return collects rain water. Additional sustainable features include passive cooling, along with efficient HVAC and lighting systems. LEED Gold certified.
