California Energy Code and LEED Enhanced commissioning for the new $66M, 58,000sf, 3-story library for the City of Hayward. Program spaces include homework tutoring centers, a makerspace with 3D printers, computer stations, a children and teen area, a cafe, staff offices, a technology lab, a digital learning center, community meeting rooms, enclosed study rooms, and a community learning center. Building systems include an in-slab radiant system and photovoltaic (PV) solar panel array. Targeting a minimum of LEED Gold certification with a goal of LEED Platinum and Zero Net Energy and Carbon. Completed in 2019.
Commissioned systems include a packaged HVAC unit, air to refrigerant heat pump, fan coil unit, supply fan, air to water heat pump, variable air volume (VAV) boxes, exhaust fans, ceiling fans, radiant systems, pumps, BMS, irrigation system, rainwater system, electric water heaters, indoor lighting controls, and photovoltaic system.
